My Story
My name is Gary Vongsavath. I grew up in California, surrounded by the flavors my parents and grandparents created in the kitchen. But life wasn’t always easy—I battled and overcame opiate addiction, and in rebuilding myself, I found redemption through food.
Sushi became my passion and my canvas. I fuse traditional techniques with bold flavors, creating dishes that reflect both my roots and my journey. Every cut, every sauce, every roll is crafted with care, using fresh, local ingredients and my own unique touch.
For me, Hai Sushi House isn’t just about sushi—it’s about giving back to the neighborhood I grew up in, sharing food that brings people together, and proving that from struggle can come something truly beautiful.
Hai Sushi House
At Hai Sushi House, we do things differently. Our homemade sauces are bold, our portions are generous, and our flavors are unforgettable. We’re a family of misfits with a shared love for sushi, pushing boundaries to make every dish stand out.
Here, it’s not just a meal—it’s passion, flavor, and heart on a plate.
